Student Fund

The EAGE Student Fund was established in 2009 to help students in geoscience & engineering for their future careers. Since it’s inception, it has managed to support thousands of students globally. The Student Fund does so by supporting a number of student activities to encourage students to participate in EAGE and grassroots-up activities. A few examples are:

  • Student Travel Grants
  • Student Scholarships
  • Support to Student conferences, workshops and field trips
  • Sponsor Student participation to the EAGE Conference & Exhibition

EAGE would like to thank all sponsoring companies and individuals for supporting the Student Fund. For more information, please check here.

Funding

All donations to EAGE Student funds are welcome! You (or your company) can make a difference! You can be sure that your donation will support the future of geoscience and engineering.

Green Fund

Since 2010 EAGE has actively worked on becoming more green by initiating the EAGE Green Fund. Several projects have already been undertaken, such as placing solar panels on the roof of the EAGE Head Office in Houten, the Netherlands. Various other initiatives supported by the Green Fund are long-term projects. In May 2014 EAGE was proud to announce the support of two such long term projects in cooperation with Eole Water and Oasebos.

One of the initiatives supported by the Green Fund was towards Eole Water producing drinking water from thin air – quite literally. Eole’s patented machine produces drinking water through condensation of humid air and is powered by solar energy.

The EAGE Green Fund also supported the Dutch foundation Oasebos in its work to protect tropical ecosystems in Costa Rica. With financial support from among others, the EAGE Green Fund, the foundation bought large chunks of tropical rainforest. With the help of local volunteers and the Costa Rican Environment and Energy Ministry, these ecosystems were protected and maintained.

The Minus CO2 Challenge

Since 2018, the EAGE Green Fund supports the organisation of the Minus CO2 Challenge – a new EAGE initiative for students. The challenge encourages the EAGE student community to develop hydrocarbon resources but with zero net emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere. During the first Minus CO2 Challenge teams from nine universities participated with Manchester University coming in first place.

After the successful inception of the challenge, the next editions will be organized at the EAGE Geoscience & Engineering in Energy Transition (GET) Conference. With the help of the EAGE Green Fund and additional partners, the Minus CO2 challenge empowers students across the globe to develop applied geoscience and engineering solutions to reduce the carbon footprint.

Facts about the EAGE Green Fund

  • From all registration fees for EAGE events one euro (€1) will be put in the Green Fund
  • This will be supplemented with a contribution by EAGE
  • The money raised in this way will be utilized to initiate and support geoscience and engineering environmental initiatives.
  • No increase in cost for our members
