Fifth HPC workshop announced
At EAGE, many of our events have a well-established history to them. Many of these are key conferences such as the Annual Conference & Exhibition, ECMOR or Near Surface Geoscience. Well-established workshop series include our Borehole Geophysics series and the High Performance Computing workshops. In September 2021, we will be bringing the fifth edition of the High Performance Computing workshop series to the city of fashion – Milan. HPC experts will have the chance to contribute to the workshop series for a three-day workshop on 6-8 September 2021.
High Performance Computing plays a leading role in our current energy business and will be of critical importance for a successful energy transition. HPC helps in seeking higher productivity, lowering costs and making better use of huge amounts of data through high-performance simulation and data analytics.
Algorithms performing as fast as possible on the best available hardware have a direct impact on many of the decisions shaping our business – particularly true in this post COVID world. Achieving this goal, through the various forms of HPC, from Supercomputers on premise to elastic and versatile solutions on the cloud, is the underlying theme of the Fifth EAGE Workshop on High Performance Computing for Upstream: “Heterogeneous HPC: Challenges, Current and Future Trends”.
In order to facilitate a wide range of papers and presentations, the workshop will feature both oral & poster presentations, panel sessions and keynote deliveries by key people in the industry.
Attendees will have the opportunity to combine their workshop experience with an opportunity unique to the city. Delegates will have a chance to visit the ENI’s Green data Center, home of one of the most powerful supercomputers in the energy industry. For those unable to join in person, EAGE will hold the workshop in a hybrid format, allowing attendees to choose between an in-person participation or online presence. Call for abstracts opens on 1 October 2020! For more information and further updates visit the event website.
